क्या मांगा द्रोण ने गुरु दक्षिणा में ?

  समय के साथ द्रोण की पीड़ा बडती जा रही थी, वे उस दिन की प्रतिक्षा कर रहे थे, जिस दिन कुरु राजकुमार उन्हें गुरु दक्षिणा  देने आएंगे, अपने विचारों में खोये द्रोण ने एक आहट के साथ किसी को प्रवेश करते देखा, सामने कृपाचार्य थे! वे  उठ कर खड़े हो गए! कृपाचार्य ने द्रोण को गले लगाते हुए कहा -"हे ऋषि पुत्र मैं अपनी बहन कृपी और अश्वस्थामा की ओर से  आपको लेने आया हूँ, वे आपकी प्रतिक्षा कर रहे है!" द्रोण ने कहा-"कृपाचार्य मैं अपने पुत्र के लिए एक गाय लेने गया था, जब तक गाय नहीं मिलेगी मैं  अपने पुत्र के पास कैसे जा सकता हूँ!" "लेकिन आपके आश्रम में तो हजारों गाय हैं" कृपाचार्य ने कहा! द्रोण ने एक लंबी सांस ली और बोले -"नहीं कृपाचार्य वह गाय इनमें नहीं है" कृपाचार्य विचारमग्न हो गए, थोड़ी देर बाद बोले -"क्या दुर्पद के पास एक गाय नही थी?" द्रोण की आँखों में क्रोध  युक्त पीड़ा झलकने लगी वे कहने लगे -"दुर्पद के पास गाय भी थी अपमान भी था उसने मुझे अपमान दिया!" कृपाचार्य बोले -"हे ऋषि पुत्र आपने उसे दंड क्यों नहीं दिया?" तब द्रोण विचार मुद्रा में खोये हुए बोले- "हे आचार्य में उसे दंड तो दे सकता था परंतु वह बराबरी की बात कर रहा था, यदि वह मेरा शत्रु होता तो मैं  उसे अवश्य दंड देता अपितु वह मेरा मित्र था, इसलिए मैंने उ

जब दुर्पद को बंदी बनाया 

से दंड नहीं दिया, क्योंकि मैं उसे अपने बराबर नहीं मानता था! लेकिन अब उसे दंड देने का समय आ गया!" कृपाचार्य उनकी पीड़ा को अच्छी तरह समझ थे वे कुछ कहते इससे पहले द्रोण बोले -"आचार्य अब आप पधारिए मेरे शिष्य आने बाले हैं!" कृपाचार्य द्रोण का मनोभाव समझ उन्हें प्रणाम करके चले गए ! 

कई सालों की प्रतिक्षा के बाद आज वह समय आ गया था जब दुर्पद को दंड देने का समय निकट आ चुका था! इस दिन के लिए द्रोण  कितनी मानसिक पीड़ा झेल चुके थे, इसका उन्हें अंदाजा भी नहीं था! ऐसा कोई दिन नहीं था, जब दुर्पद के अपमान भरे बचन उनके कान में न गूजते हों! द्रोण अपने विचारों में खोये थे तभी सभी कुरु राजकुमार अंदर आने की  आज्ञा मांगते हैं! वे विचारों की दुनिया से बाहर निकल कर अपने शिष्यों को अंदर आने की अनुमति देते हैं! सभी कुरु राजकुमार हाथ जोड कर द्रोण से पुछते हैं -"गुरुदेव अब हमारे लिए क्या आदेश है?" द्रोण राजकुमारों की ओर  एक आशा भरी निगाह से देखते हुए कहते हैं -"राजकुमारों यह आपकी शिक्षा का अंतिम चरण है, इसके बिना शिक्षा अधूरी रहती है! सभी राजकुमार जिज्ञासा से देखने लगे और राजकुमार युधिष्ठिर बोले -"गुरुदेव हमें अब क्या करना होगा?" द्रोण ने युधिष्ठिर की ओर देखते हुए कहा -"बत्स शिक्षा का अंतिम पड़ाव गुरु दक्षिणा होती है, इसके बिना शिक्षा अधूरी मानी जाती अत: अब आप सबको गुरु दक्षिणा देनी होगी!" द्रोण अपनी बात समाप्त करते इससे पहले ही दुर्योधन कहने लगा -"हे गुरुदेव आप बस आदेश कीजिये हम आपके चरणों में सोने चाँदी के ढेर लगा देंगे1" द्रोण ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा -"नहीं दुर्योधन  इस आचार्य के लिए सोने, चाँदी का कोई मोल नहीं है!" तभी युधिष्ठिर ने हाथ जोड़ कर कहा-"गुरुदेव आपको क्या चाहिए?" द्रोण ने एक बार सभी राजकुमारों की ओर गौर से देखा और बोले -यदि आप गुरुदक्षिणा में कुछ देना चाहते हैं तो दुर्पद को बंदी बनाकर मेरे पास लेकर आओ यही मेरी गुरु दक्षिणा होगी!"  कोई कुछ कहता इससे पहले ही दुर्योधन बोला -"मैं अभी दुर्पद का सिर काटकर आपके चरणों मे प्रस्तुत करता हूँ!" द्रोण ने उसे टोकते हुए कहा -"दुर्योधन , मैंने सिर्फ बंदी बनाने का आदेश दिया है वध करने का नहीं!" दुर्योधन क्षमा मांगकर अपने भाइयों के साथ चला जाता है!

द्रोण की बात अर्जुन को पसंद नहीं आई! द्रोण अर्जुन के मनोभाव को जान  गए,  और अर्जुन से पूछा -"अर्जुन क्या बात है? तुम प्रसन्न  दिखाई नहीं दे रहे!" अर्जुन बोला -"गुरुदेव आपने आज्ञा पालन का अवसर हमें क्यों प्रदान नहीं किया? द्रोण मुस्कराये और अर्जुन से बोले -"तुम्हारी शिक्षा पूर्ण हो चुकी है लेकिन दुर्योधन की शिक्षा का एक अध्याय अभी शेष है!" सभी पांडव गुरुदेव की बात का रहस्य समझने का प्रयास करने लगे! 

अभिमान के नशे में चूर दुर्योधन को दुर्पद की शक्ति का अहसास नहीं था! वह परिणाम का विचार किए बगैर हस्तना पुर की सेना लेकर दुर्पद को बंदी बनाने चला गया!  दुर्पद से दुर्योधन का सामना हुआ तब उसे अहसास हुआ कि उसका सामना किसी साधारण योद्धा से नहीं है दुर्पद से है! दुर्योधन दुर्पद कि युद्ध नीति समझ पाता इससे पहले ही वह उसके व्यू में फंस गया और उसे युद्ध छोडकर भागना पड़ा! दुर्योधन की असफलता का द्रोण को पूर्वाभास था क्योंकि उन्हें दुर्पद की शक्ति आभास था वे जानते थे दुर्पद को अर्जुन के अतिरिक्त कोई नहीं जीत सकता और अर्जुन को दुर्पद को बंदी बनाने का आदेश दिया! पांचों पांडव बिना सेना के ही दुर्पद से युद्ध करने गए क्योंकि पांडव जानते थे कि उन्हे इस युद्ध में  सेना ले जाने का अधिकार नहीं है क्योंकि यह हस्तनापुर और पांचाल के बीच का युद्ध नहीं था अपितु इनका व्यक्तिगत युद्ध था,जो गुरु दक्षिणा के लिए था! 

दुर्पद ने जब पांडवों को बिना सेना के सामने देखा तो वह भ्रमित हो गया यह पाँच युवा उसकी सेना का सामना कैसे करेंगे! वह बस वहीं चूक गया उसे यह अहसास नहीं था कि यह कोई साधारण योद्दा नहीं है अपितु द्रोण के प्रीतिशोध का परिणाम हैं! दुर्पद अपनी सेना के  साथ भी  अर्जुन तथा अन्य पांडवों का सामना करने में आ सफल रहा और बंदी बना लिया गया! दुर्पद को बंदी बनाकर द्रोण के सामने लाया गया! दोनों मित्र कई सालों के बाद आमने -सामने थे, दोनों के ही मन में कड़वाहट थी! तभी द्रोण ने मुस्कराते हुए कहा-"आओ मित्र कैसे हो? अब तो मैं तुम्हें अपना मित्र कह सकता हूँ!" दुर्पद ने एक हारे हुए योद्दा कि तरह द्रोण को देखा, द्रोण ने दुर्पद को मुक्त कराते हुए कहा -"मित्र अब मैं तुम्हें अपना मित्र कह सकता हूँ? लेकिन तुम तो मेरे शिष्य के बराबर भी नहीं हो!" दुर्पद अपमान चुपचाप  सह रहा था, क्योंकि वह अब एक हारा हुआ योद्दा था! 

द्रोण के ह्रदय का घाव आज भर गया था! अपने मित्र को अपमानित करने का दंड अपमान से दिया था ! लेकिन वे दुर्पद को हमेशा अपना मित्र मानते थे, इसलिए  उसका राज्य उसे लौटा दिया, लेकिन दुर्पद को बराबरी अहसास बना रहे इसलिए उसका आधा राज्य अपने पुत्र अश्वस्थामा को दे दिया! अपने अपमान का प्रतिशोध दुर्पद से एक गाय लेकर पूरा किया जिसके लिए वह कई सालों तक अपने पुत्र व पत्नी से दूर रहे आज वही गाय लेकर कृपी के पास गए जो कई सालों से आने की बाट जोह रही थी, जब द्रोण को कृपी ने गाय के साथ आश्रम के मुख्य द्वार पर देखा तो उनकी आंखों से नीर की अविरल धारा बहने लगी! 

Drona's pain was increasing with time, he was waiting for the day when the Kuru prince would come to give him Guru Dakshina, Drona, lost in his thoughts, saw someone entering with a cry, Kripacharya was in front! They got up and stood up! Kripacharya hugged Drona and said - "O sage son, I have come to take you on behalf of my sister Kripi and Ashwathama, they are waiting for you!" Drona said- "Kripacharya I had gone to get a cow for my son, how can I go to my son until the cow is found!" "But there are thousands of cows in your ashram," said Kripacharya! Drona took a long breath and said - "No Kripacharya, that cow is not in them." There was anger in Drona's eyes, he started saying - "Durpad had a cow too, he also insulted me, he insulted me!" Kripacharya said - "O sage son, why didn't you punish him?" Then Drona, lost in thought posture, said - "O Acharya, I could have punished him, but he was talking about equality, if he was my enemy, I would have punished him, but he was my friend, so I did not punish him." Because I didn't consider him my equal! But now it's time to punish him!" Kripacharya understood his pain very well, before he could say anything, Drona said - "Acharya, now you come, my disciples are about to come!" Kripacharya understood the attitude of Drona and went away after bowing to him.

After many years of waiting, the time had come when the time to punish Durpada was near! He had no idea how much mental pain Drona had suffered for this day! There was not a day when the humiliating words of Durpada did not reverberate in his ears! Drona was lost in his thoughts when all the Kuru princes ask for permission to come inside! He leaves the world of thoughts and allows his disciples to come in! All the Kuru princes ask Drona with folded hands - "Gurudev what is the order for us now?" Drona looks at the princes with a hopeful look and says - "Princes, this is the last stage of your education, without this education remains incomplete! All the princes looked with curiosity and Prince Yudhishthira said - "Gurudev what we have to do now? " Drona looking at Yudhishthira said - "The final stage of education is Guru Dakshina, without this education is considered incomplete, so now you all have to give Guru Dakshina!" Before Drona could end his talk, Duryodhana started saying - "O Gurudev, you just order, we will put heaps of gold and silver at your feet." Drona said with a smile - "No Duryodhana, there is no value of gold and silver for this teacher!" Then Yudhishthira with folded hands said-" What do you want, Gurudev?" Drona once looked at all the princes carefully and said - If you want to give something in Gurudakshina, then take Durpad as a prisoner and bring it to me, this will be my Guru Dakshina!" Before anyone could say anything, Duryodhana said - "I am now presenting the head of Durpad at your feet!" Drona interrupted him and said - "Duryodhana, I have only ordered to be taken captive, not to be killed!" Duryodhana apologies and goes with his brothers!

Arjuna did not like Drona's talk! Drona came to know of Arjuna's mood, and asked Arjuna - "What is the matter Arjuna? You do not look happy!" Arjun said - "Gurudev, why didn't you give us the opportunity to obey? Drona smiled and said to Arjuna - "Your education is complete but one chapter of Duryodhana's education is still left!" All the Pandavas understand the secret of Gurudev's talk. Started trying!

Drunk with pride, Duryodhana did not realise the power of Durpada! Without thinking of the consequences, he took the army of Hastanapur and went to take Durpada prisoner! Duryodhana was confronted by Durpada, then he realised that he is not facing any ordinary warrior, he is with Durpad! Before Duryodhana could understand Durpad's war policy, he got caught in his view and had to leave the war and run away! Drona had foreseen the failure of Duryodhana because he knew the power of Durpada, he knew that no one could win Durpada except Arjuna and ordered Arjuna to take Durpada captive! The five Pandavas went to fight with Durpada without an army because the Pandavas knew that they did not have the right to take the army in this war because it was not a war between Hastanapur and Panchal but their personal war, which was for Guru Dakshina. !

When Durpada saw the Pandavas without an army, he was confused how these five youths would face his army! He just missed there, not realising that this was no ordinary war, but the result of Drona's vengeance! Durpad with his army was also able to face Arjuna and other Pandavas and was taken prisoner! Durpad was taken captive and brought before Drona! The two friends were face to face after many years, both of them had bitterness in their mind! Then Drona smiled and said - "Come on, how are you friend? Now I can call you my friend!" Durpad looked at Drona like a defeated warrior, Drona freeing Durpada said - "Friend now I can call you my friend? But you are not even equal to my disciple!" was tolerating the dastardly humiliation, for he was now a defeated warrior.
